Since its inception in 1999, the Shemka Foundation has been working to develop a strategy to revive and sustain community development in Cameroon. At the forefront of this effort has been the Shemka Foundation's partnership with the Quality Healthcare Unit (QHU) at Nkolbison, in the outskirts of the capital city Yaounde. The result of this partnership is a strategic approach to sustainable community development, focused on the following key areas:
Community Healthcare
Community Education
Youth Development
Local Economies
In spite of its modest facility, the Quality Healthcare Unit (QHU) at Nkolbison has, and continues to set the standard for high quality, affordable healthcare and social services that have transformed the lives of local residents and received national recognition.
The Shemka Foundation is supported primarily through donations (monetary, equipment, and service) from a variety of sources, including the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon, nonprofit organizations, individuals, social clubs, and corporations. As a publicly supported organization, no individual profits financially from the activities of the foundation; we are committed to performing our work with quality and integrity.
